The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has instructed state agencies to take measures to minimize the consequences of international sanctions imposed against the country, the government's press service reported.

First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — Head of the Presidential Administration Adilbek Kasymaliev chaired a working meeting on the application of international sanctions. The meeting discussed the current situation, risks, and potential consequences of the imposed restrictions, and developed proposals for their phased removal.

Following the meeting, state agencies were given relevant instructions aimed at minimizing negative impacts and developing a comprehensive set of measures to remove Kyrgyz companies from the sanctions lists of Western countries.

Kyrgyzstan has become the first country to face secondary sanctions from the European Union. Under the 20th sanctions package adopted last week, the EU activated a mechanism to combat sanctions circumvention concerning Kyrgyzstan. The export of any programmable equipment and radio apparatus to the country is now prohibited.

The EU Council stated that the decision was made based on a thorough analysis of trade data, which shows a significant increase in the re-export of high-priority goods to Russia via Kyrgyzstan.
