Uzbekistan has maintained its status as a country with strong family values: according to the results of 2025, the divorce rate in the republic is several times lower than in most CIS countries, while the birth rate remains stable at an average level.
According to data from the Committee on Family and Women's Affairs, for every thousand marriages registered in the country, there are about 175 divorces, making Uzbekistan's family institution one of the most stable in the region.
The statistics show a stark contrast with other CIS states. While Uzbekistan's marriage stability coefficient is 175.6 per mille, neighboring Kazakhstan's figure is almost twice as high (328.2), and Kyrgyzstan's is 289.6. In countries like Moldova and Azerbaijan, the situation is even more acute: there are between 430 and 640 divorces per thousand unions.
Within the republic itself, the Kashkadarya, Khorezm, and Surkhandarya regions have become "poles of stability." At the same time, Tashkent city and its surrounding region traditionally record a higher percentage of family breakdowns.
Uzbekistan also maintains a high standard in terms of birth rate. In 2025, the total coefficient was 23.2 per mille per thousand inhabitants. By international standards, this is considered an average level, but against the backdrop of CIS countries, the figures look impressive.
For comparison: in Russia, this indicator is only 8.6, in Armenia — 11.1, and in neighboring Central Asian countries Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan — it fluctuates around 18–19 per mille.
