The Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed regret over the European Union's decision to apply, for the first time under the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions, a tool to combat sanctions evasion against Kyrgyzstan.

In a statement, the ministry emphasized that Kyrgyzstan has consistently maintained an open, responsible, and constructive approach in its dialogue with the EU on jointly preventing risks related to sanctions restrictions, based on mutual respect of interests, transparency, and trust.

However, despite ongoing negotiations, regular exchange of visits, and the timely provision of all requested documented information—including data on measures taken by Kyrgyz state bodies—the Kyrgyz side's position allegedly remains unacknowledged and effectively ignored, causing serious misunderstanding.

The statement notes that such unilateral decisions not only undermine the atmosphere of trust being built within bilateral cooperation but also contradict the EU's repeatedly stated intentions to develop comprehensive cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and Central Asian countries, promote regional stability, and strengthen partnerships.

Kyrgyzstan reaffirms its commitment to international law and the principles of fair international cooperation, acting strictly within its national legislation and international obligations. In this regard, the Kyrgyz side expresses concern over the practice of imposing unilateral restrictive measures against third countries.

Kyrgyzstan advocates for transparent, professional, and depoliticized dialogue and calls on the EU to demonstrate a consistent, balanced, and truly constructive approach, ensure due consideration of Kyrgyzstan's position, and move toward the practical implementation of agreements reached during negotiations between Kyrgyz and EU delegations.
