Russia has imposed a six-month ban on the import of radio-electronic devices for satellite communications, effective May 1. The corresponding government decree was published on April 30.

According to the document dated April 29, the ban prohibits the import of radio-electronic equipment designed for transmitting and/or receiving radio waves from foreign communication satellites (including dual-use satellites) that do not have a decision from the State Commission on Radio Frequencies on the allocation of radio frequency bands.

The Federal Customs Service and the Federal Security Service have been tasked with enforcing the ban.

The decree also amends a 2012 resolution, adding the relevant category of radio-electronic devices to the list of strategically important goods, with corresponding EAEU HS codes.
