President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan will not attend the May 9 parade in Moscow, along with other Central Asian leaders. Sources in the Uzbek and Kyrgyz governments confirmed this to Podrobno.uz.

Earlier, the Kremlin published a list of foreign leaders invited to the event, which did not include the presidents of Central Asian countries.

The traditional parade on Red Square in 2026 will be held under unprecedented security measures due to the intensification of Ukrainian drone attacks. As a result, Moscow plans to completely disable mobile internet and SMS communications.

For the first time in a long while, the celebration will be held on a reduced program and without military equipment. The Russian Defense Ministry explained this decision by the current operational situation, while the Kremlin cited existing terrorist threats.

Notably, regional leaders will focus on holding festive events within their own countries dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory. Uzbekistan traditionally plans solemn meetings with veterans and commemorative events for the Day of Remembrance and Honor.
