Tajik Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda announced at the fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum that bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan has grown from $70 million to $1 billion.

The two countries now plan to increase this figure to $2 billion by 2028. Rasulzoda described the relationship as an example of political will translating into economic results.

Thanks to decisions by the leaders of both nations, borders have become “bridges of friendship,” and the common economic space serves as a platform for major joint initiatives.

Cross-border citizen traffic surged from 3,000 to 4 million people per year, while road freight transport increased 100-fold.

The number of joint ventures reached 530, with over 120 enterprises operating in Tajikistan with Uzbek capital and more than 410 companies in Uzbekistan with Tajik investments.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated at the forum that energy is the main area of Russia-Uzbekistan cooperation, noting significant potential for expanding the partnership.
