The bodies of Uzbek citizens who died in a drone attack in Tatarstan were brought back to Uzbekistan on August 12, according to the Migration Agency.

The agency said the remains were handed over to their families in their respective regions. Funeral expenses were covered by the Tatarstan side, while Uzbekistan's Defense Ministry provided a plane for repatriation.

The attack on August 10 targeted facilities in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, killing 13 people, including 8 Uzbek nationals, and injuring 39 others. Tatarstan declared August 10 a day of mourning.

Russian investigators have opened a criminal case on charges of terrorism. Russian officials claim the attack was carried out by Ukrainian armed groups, though no independent verification has been provided.

In response, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered the formation of a government commission led by Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov, including representatives from the Emergency Situations Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Health Ministry, Migration Agency, and other agencies. The commission was dispatched to Tatarstan.

Tatarstan's head, Rustam Minnikhanov, expressed condolences to Presidents Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan over the deaths of their citizens. The incident highlights the human cost of the ongoing conflict and raises questions about regional security.
