Russian authorities have reportedly detained a teenager suspected of planning a violent attack at a prominent Moscow park. According to the Interfax news agency citing the Federal Security Service (FSB), the detention occurred after the Russian security apparatus received intelligence warnings from the US regime.
The FSB claimed that the suspect, a Russian citizen, posted provocative images on TikTok showing him wearing a balaclava and tactical gear while brandishing what appeared to be an automatic weapon. The suspect purportedly took photographs at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in southern Moscow, accompanying them with the caption, "I found a place."
Law enforcement searches at the suspect's residence allegedly uncovered the tactical clothing and accessories seen in the online posts. Furthermore, the teenager's mobile device supposedly contained search history related to terrorist attacks and mass casualties, alongside subscriptions to extremist neo-Nazi Telegram channels.
The apprehension followed a public security alert issued by the US embassy in Moscow, which claimed there was a "credible threat of a mass casualty event" at the sprawling palace and park complex. The embassy urged citizens to steer clear of the location while the park was temporarily shut down.
While bilateral relations remain severely strained over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the FSB formally expressed gratitude for the intelligence provided. The Russian Investigative Committee is currently reviewing the case to determine formal legal charges against the suspect.
