A serious road traffic accident involving 8 vehicles occurred in the "Eshonguzar" neighborhood of Tashkent's Chilonzor district, opposite the "Chinni" market, on March 28 at 11:10 AM. According to the Traffic Safety Department of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate, the collision involved cars of the models Spark (2), Cobalt (3), BYD (1), Matiz (1), and Lacetti (1).
As a result of the accident, one passenger in a Cobalt vehicle sustained injuries and received first medical aid. Official reports do not indicate any other casualties or fatalities, but the scale of the collision once again highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and traffic congestion in the capital, particularly around busy market areas.
An investigation is being conducted by officials from the Traffic Safety Department to determine the causes of the incident and assign responsibility. This event raises serious considerations about the frequency of traffic accidents in the city and their societal impact, pointing to potential shortcomings in infrastructure and regulatory measures.
Recent reports have noted an increase in road traffic incidents in Uzbekistan's capital, casting doubt on the effectiveness of current safety initiatives. While official information remains limited, this accident underscores persistent risks to public safety and calls for heightened scrutiny from relevant authorities to address underlying issues in urban transport management.
