A serious road traffic accident occurred in the Fаrish district of Jizzakh Region on April 4 at approximately 16:05 on the "Jizzakh-Bog'don-Qizilcha" highway. According to preliminary reports, a 27-year-old driver of a Nexia car, a resident of the Xatirchi district of Navoiy Region, violated overtaking rules and collided with a Cobalt car driven by a 35-year-old resident of the Fаrish district.
As a result of the severe collision, both drivers died at the scene. Among the victims was also a 54-year-old Chinese citizen who was in the Nexia. Two more passengers of the Cobalt died later in the hospital. Other sources indicate that the death toll may be higher—up to seven people, with five killed at the accident site and two dying in a medical facility.
Competent authorities have not yet commented on the incident. This event underscores the ongoing challenges with road safety in the region and serves as a reminder for drivers to adhere to traffic regulations.
This accident follows a recent fatal road incident in the Shahrixon district of Andijan Region, where two brothers died in a collision between two Cobalt cars. These consecutive cases highlight the urgent need for enhanced measures to ensure road safety across Uzbekistan.
