In the early morning of August 12, 2025, a severe traffic accident occurred in the “Madaniyat” neighborhood of Chinaz District, Tashkent Region. Davron Yuldoshev, an inspector from the Tashkent City Road Safety Directorate (Traffic Police), was driving a “Cobalt” at high speed when he lost control, veered into the oncoming lane, and collided head-on with a “Gentra” vehicle.
The driver of the “Gentra,” Fozil Ubaydullayev, died in the intensive care unit of Yangiyul Medical Association, while his wife and two daughters sustained injuries. After the crash, Yuldoshev reportedly switched to an unmarked “Damas” vehicle and fled the scene without providing assistance. Relatives of the deceased claimed that Yuldoshev was driving the “Cobalt” without license plates, and the escape vehicle was also unregistered, highlighting negligence.
During the trial, the 35-year-old Yuldoshev pleaded guilty, stating he was rushing to a morning briefing and lost control, only regaining consciousness later in a hospital. He also mentioned that he had paid $15,500 in compensation to the victims as part of the legal proceedings.
The Criminal Court of Chinaz District sentenced Yuldoshev to 7 years in prison and revoked his driving license for 3 years. The victim’s family appealed the verdict, seeking a harsher penalty, but the regional court upheld the original sentence. This incident underscores ongoing concerns about road safety and accountability among law enforcement officials in Uzbekistan.
