Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, renowned actress and poet Dono Babakhanova (Danisiya Dayanovna Babakhanova) has passed away at the age of 80. Her death was announced by official representatives of the Abror Khidoyatov Uzbek State Drama Theater. Preliminary reports indicate the actress died at her home on April 15 due to heart failure.
Dono Babakhanova was born on November 20, 1946, in the Kazakh SSR. She graduated from the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute in 1970. Her stage career began in 1968 at the "Yosh Gvardiyachilar" Theater (now the Abror Khidoyatov Uzbek State Drama Theater). From the 1990s onward, she also appeared in films.
Among her most notable roles are the film novella "Bozor Kurmagan Yigit," and the movies "Chol va Nabira" (2009), "Tilla Buva" (2012), "Tilim Qursin" (2013), and "Privideniya Morya" (Ghosts of the Sea, 2019). She also starred in television series such as "Ulfatlar-2" (2008), "Vafodarim" (2013), "Kuch Birlikda" (2013-2014), and "Berlin-Aqqurgan" (2018).
Dono Babakhanova was not only an actress but also an accomplished literary figure. She authored over 20 poetry collections, as well as several novels and short stories. Her creative work made significant contributions to Uzbek literature and culture.
In 1996, she was awarded the honorary title "Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan." Her passing represents a significant loss for Uzbek culture and the arts. The actress's funeral is scheduled for April 16 in Tashkent.
