In Fergana region, a 58-year-old man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for murdering his acquaintance during a joint drinking session.

According to the case materials, the man was drinking alcohol with his acquaintance at his home. While intoxicated, a quarrel broke out between them, accompanied by mutual insults. The conflict escalated into a fight.

Losing control, the defendant grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the head and chest. The victim tried to run home but fell at the entrance. The defendant caught up and stabbed him several more times in the chest. The man died from his injuries.

The criminal case was heard by the Beshariq District Criminal Court. The defendant was found guilty under paragraphs "c" and "g" of Part 2 of Article 97 ("Premeditated murder with extreme cruelty of a person known to be in a helpless state") and sentenced to 16 years in prison.

This is not the first murder committed while intoxicated. Earlier, in the Kitab district of Kashkadarya region, a domestic conflict between neighbors led to a tragedy — one of the participants died from a knife wound.
