President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a video conference meeting on Monday focused on a critical analysis of first-quarter economic indicators across sectors and regions, as well as plans for the remainder of the year.
During the meeting, the president criticized several local leaders for failing to address entrepreneurs' problems and instead trying to deflect blame when issues escalated to the national level.
For instance, the governor of Nurafshon was accused of being more concerned about how information about a bureaucratic delay reached the president than helping a businessman who has been unable to start construction for two years.
It was also noted that the governors of Guzar, Narpay, Urgench, Yangiyul, and Chinaz have yet to launch projects using funds already allocated for business infrastructure. This year, an additional 262 billion soums were allocated from the national budget to improve business infrastructure in these districts.
The president ordered the regional governors to review the suitability of the named district governors for their positions on the same day, stating that they “cannot pull their cart.”
