Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan have thwarted another human trafficking attempt. Officers from the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a 24-year-old woman from the Bostanlyk district, who had established a channel to send compatriots to the United Arab Emirates for sexual exploitation.

The suspect was apprehended at Tashkent International Airport while attempting to transport one of her victims on a flight to Dubai. The operation was carried out swiftly, preventing the woman from leaving the country.

According to the investigation, the young woman deceitfully recruited four girls, promising them well-paid jobs abroad. However, the victims were actually destined for sexual exploitation. The recruiter allegedly used false promises to lure them into the scheme.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 135, Part 2, Clause 'z' ('Human Trafficking') of the Criminal Code. The suspect has been placed in custody pending trial. The investigation is ongoing. The legislation provides for punishment of 5 to 10 years of imprisonment for such crimes.

Authorities urge citizens to report similar incidents via the short number 1520, guaranteeing anonymity. They also warn about the risks of job offers abroad and advise caution.

This is not the first such case. Earlier, at Tashkent International Airport, law enforcement detained two women who attempted to fraudulently send a 24-year-old resident of Namangan to Ankara for prostitution.
