Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. Officers from the State Security Service (SSS), the Tashkent City Police Department, and cybersecurity center specialists have stopped the activities of a 21-year-old resident of Chirchik who was selling malicious APK programs on Telegram.
According to the SSS press service, the suspect sold his programs via Telegram for prices ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 soums, and also provided technical support to buyers. These APK files could be used to gain unauthorized access to accounts, read SMS messages, and steal money from payment systems.
The detained individual was an administrator of more than five groups and channels where he regularly posted about the capabilities of his software. During a search, authorities seized a laptop, phone, hard drive, and two bank cards. A criminal case has been opened and an investigation is underway.
Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan launched a Telegram bot that helps users determine the danger level of files and links received in the messenger.
