Law enforcement officers in Andijan have cracked down on a fraudulent scheme involving extortion of money under the guise of assistance in obtaining documents. The suspects allegedly posed as officials from supervisory agencies, promising to help open a training center and obtain permits.
According to the investigation, the director of Vocational College No. 2 in Altynkul district filed a complaint against unknown individuals who promised to facilitate obtaining permission to open a driving school. They demanded $10,000 for their services.
The first suspect was arrested during a special operation while attempting to receive $4,000. The subsequent detention of the second accomplice also occurred at the moment of money transfer, allowing authorities to catch them red-handed.
It turned out that the detainees had no affiliation with government agencies, including the prosecutor's office, and acted solely for personal enrichment.
A criminal case has been opened on charges of fraud and incitement to bribery. Investigative actions are ongoing.
Citizens are urged not to trust individuals who claim to be government officials and demand money for their "services." Reports can be made via the hotline 1161, with confidentiality guaranteed.
Earlier, officers of the State Security Service and the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office stopped the activities of two fraudsters in Navoi and Kashkadarya regions who promised citizens employment abroad.
