On the eve of the Day of Remembrance and Honor, the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan has released the latest statistical data on compatriots who endured the trials of World War II. As of May 6, 2026, 60 war participants and persons equated to them reside in the country.

According to the information provided, among them are 14 war invalids, 14 direct combat participants, 13 survivors of the siege of Leningrad, and 19 former prisoners of concentration camps.

The majority of veterans currently live in the capital — 28 people, and in the Tashkent region — 11 people. Regionally, 5 veterans live in the Fergana region, 3 each in Andijan, Bukhara, and Khorezm regions, 2 each in Namangan and Kashkadarya regions, and one hero each in Jizzakh, Samarkand, and Surkhandarya regions. No veterans of these categories are currently registered in Karakalpakstan, Navoi, and Syrdarya regions.
