According to Uzgidromet, April 2026 in Uzbekistan was moderately warm, continuing the trend of warm Aprils in recent years. The average temperature exceeded the climatic norm by 1–2.6°C across the country.
On the hottest days, air temperatures rose to +28…+33°C, and in the north, south, and desert areas locally up to +34…+36°C. However, this April was cooler than April 2025, which ranked among the three warmest Aprils in most of Uzbekistan and set monthly maximum temperature records in many regions.
The coldest period was April 15–18, when night temperatures dropped to +5…+10°C and daytime temperatures reached +13…+18°C. The temperature regime was favorable for mass flowering of gardens, sowing campaigns, and initial crop development.
The past April was relatively dry. In most of the republic, precipitation was below normal. In the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Navoi regions, and most of Bukhara region—areas with low climatic norms—precipitation exceeded the long-term average.
Against this background, Samarkand region and the foothill and mountainous areas of Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions stood out, where, despite relatively high climatic norms, precipitation was above or equal to normal.
On some days, heavy downpours occurred in certain areas, with 15–35 mm of precipitation in 24 hours, and up to 40–50 mm in the foothills of Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions (often within a few hours), accounting for 30% to 70% of the monthly norm.
In some northern areas of Karakalpakstan and the Kyzylkum desert (Kungrad, Jaslyk, Jongeldi weather stations), heavy downpours brought precipitation 120–220% above normal. Rain was often accompanied by thunderstorms, locally strong winds, and hail in some districts. The rains triggered increased mudflow and flood activity in the foothill and mountainous areas of the republic.
