Uzbekistan has been ranked 62nd in the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Travel and Tourism Development Index for 2024, according to the country's Tourism Committee. This marks a significant improvement from 78th place last year.

The index covers 119 countries, and Uzbekistan now leads Central Asian nations. Committee head Umid Shadiyev attributed the progress to ongoing reforms and infrastructure projects in the sector.

The top three spots were claimed by the United States, Spain, and Japan. Uzbekistan's rise is attributed to high scores in safety and service quality.

Experts view this as a positive sign for the country's tourism potential, though some critics note persistent challenges in infrastructure and service standards.
