Steven Spielberg's upcoming film "Disclosure Day" (2025) stars Josh O'Connor as a cybersecurity whistleblower determined to reveal the truth about aliens. He teams up with a Kansas City TV meteorologist (Emily Blunt), who is overcome by a mysterious extraterrestrial force during a live broadcast.

Spielberg describes the film as "reflective of the world as it is evolving and discoveries that are being made as we speak," not purely fictional. He has believed in extraterrestrials since making "Close Encounters" 50 years ago and accepts that contact may have already been attempted.

In recent years, the scientific community has taken a data-driven approach to studying Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs). The 2023 House Subcommittee hearing on UAPs featured testimony from former intelligence officer David Grusch, who alleged a secret government program. The Pentagon has released two batches of declassified files, with a third planned.

Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb argues that scientists must pay attention to anomalies reported by reliable sources. Even if most sightings are explainable, Loeb says, "even if one in a million objects is not from this Earth — that would be the biggest discovery ever made by humanity."

Famous alien conspiracies include the 1947 Roswell incident, Area 51, and the 1961 Betty and Barney Hill abduction story. The 2004 "Tic Tac" sighting off California remains one of the most documented modern UAP cases, involving radar data and military sensors.
