Shavkat Rahmon, born on September 12, 1950, in the city of Osh, is recognized as one of the bright figures of Uzbek literature. After graduating from high school in 1966, he studied at the Literature Institute in Moscow. His first poems were published in newspapers of the Osh region, marking the beginning of his creative journey.

Rahmon's first poetry collection, "Rangin Lavhalar" (Colorful Scenes), was published in 1978. This was followed by "Yurak Qirralari" (Edges of the Heart) in 1981, and "Ochiq Kunlar" (Open Days) and "Gullayotgan Tosh" (Blooming Stone) in 1983−1984. In 1986−1988, his collections such as "Uyg‘oq Tog‘lar" (Awakened Mountains) and "Hulvo" (Halva) were released.

The poet was not only a writer but also a translator. He translated poems by Spanish poet Federico García Lorca into Uzbek. Rahmon's "Saylanma" (Selected Works) was presented posthumously, after 1996.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Gazeta has prepared a test based on the works of this honored cultural worker of Uzbekistan. The test aims to explore the poet's rich legacy and introduce it to the younger generation.
