The government of Uzbekistan has officially extended the winter basic limit for natural gas usage of 500 cubic meters for residents of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm Region until March 15, 2026. The decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers due to forecasts from Uzhydromet predicting continued low temperatures in these regions.

This measure will allow residents of northern territories to use the increased gas volume at the basic (preferential) tariff for an additional two weeks. The Ministry of Energy emphasized that the schedule adjustments are solely due to climatic factors: frosts are expected in these areas in the first half of March, requiring more intensive home heating.

According to the new rules, the transition to the "summer" limit of 100 cubic meters for Karakalpakstan and Khorezm is postponed until mid-month. Until March 15, payment for gas within the 500 cubic meter limit will be calculated at the minimum tariff rate, helping to avoid a sharp increase in household heating costs. For all other regions of the republic, the transition dates to non-heating season norms remain unchanged, as per the previously approved schedule.

After March 15, the standard non-heating season limit will come into effect in the specified regions. It is worth noting that alongside these changes, the state's targeted compensation system continues to operate: it still covers part of the costs for needy population segments in case of exceeding the established social norms.

Previously, Uzbekistan officially denied rumors about an increase in natural gas prices from March 1. As explained by the Ministry of Energy, the price per cubic meter for the population has not changed, and the new figures in payment receipts are solely related to the planned transition to spring-summer social norms.
