In the Mirabad district of Tashkent, a traffic accident occurred on March 11, 2026, at 19:17 on Shahrisabz Street, involving a collision between a King Long electric bus and a Polestar 2 Long Range electric car on a dedicated public transport lane (BRT). The incident highlights ongoing safety concerns in the city's transport infrastructure.
According to official reports, the bus driver from the "4-Bus Park" branch (born 1989, with 14 years of experience) was traveling on the dedicated lane from the direction of the "Oybek" metro station. Simultaneously, the driver of the Polestar 2 electric car (born 2000) ignored the requirements of road sign 4.1.1 "Go Straight" and made a sharp left turn towards Mirabad Street, leading to the collision.
Preliminary findings indicate that the accident was caused by the fault of the car driver. No injuries were reported in the incident, but the multi-seat bus sustained technical damage. Officers from the Traffic Safety Department of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate documented the event according to established procedures.
This case once again underscores the necessity of strict adherence to rules on dedicated lanes, as violations jeopardize the safety of dozens of public transport passengers. Such incidents in the urban transport system point to persistent issues with road discipline and enforcement, raising questions about overall traffic management effectiveness in the capital.
