President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan inspected the activities of the Digital Control Center established at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex. The head of state had previously participated in the launch ceremony of the 3rd copper enrichment plant at the complex. The center is designed to coordinate production processes at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd copper enrichment plants, increase efficiency, and ensure continuous monitoring.
At the center, digital control systems, large-screen monitoring panels, video surveillance, and platforms such as Siemens PCS 7 and AVEVA PI Vision are used to monitor crushing, flotation, thickening, filtration, reagent supply, technological water supply, workshops, and transport systems in real-time. Over 20,000 pieces of equipment are connected to a unified information system, where initial monitoring is carried out through "smart" cameras, and anomalies are automatically identified using artificial intelligence.
While familiarizing himself with the center's activities, the President emphasized that artificial intelligence offers significant opportunities to enhance efficiency, particularly in the mining and metallurgical sectors. Special attention was also given to the need for widespread adoption of modern resource-saving technologies for the rational use of water resources. The head of state was presented with plans for further digitalization of the complex's production and technological processes.
The presentation noted that all processes, from ore extraction to finished product manufacturing, are being digitized in stages. Over the next five years, widespread implementation of AI-based solutions at each stage is envisioned. The President was also informed about the progress in digitizing deposits based on geological and surveying data accumulated over 80 years.
The President paid special attention to expanding the scope of patent work. He stressed the necessity of patenting scientific and technological solutions applied at each stage of the plant, enhancing cooperation with authorized organizations, and identifying promising innovative directions. As noted, a new patent means new technology, new production directions, and new markets.
