Tashkent is planning to install 7,880 new traffic light units and 2,740 digital timers for automated traffic flow management. According to the technical modernization project presented by specialists from the Center for Traffic Organization (CTO), this equipment will be part of a transition to an adaptive intersection control system that operates in real-time based on traffic density.
The technical upgrade is part of the "90-Day Blitz" program. Experts plan to integrate all digital infrastructure into a unified intelligent transport center. This will allow for the accumulation of traffic situation data and prompt adjustment of traffic light operations on key city arteries depending on current traffic loads.
In addition to equipment installation, the agency's strategy includes implementing digital services to inform drivers about traffic jams and road incidents. Specialists expect that implementing the adaptive control system will help optimize the capacity of existing roads without changing their geometry.
It should be recalled that as part of the transport reform in the capital, plans also include creating 30,000 new parking spaces and updating over 100 kilometers of sidewalks to better organize pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
