An investigation into a criminal case involving the production and distribution of pornographic materials featuring a minor has been completed in Uzbekistan. According to official information, in August 2025, the Office of the Children's Ombudsman received a report from public activists about this crime.
During the investigation, facts regarding the distribution of pornographic materials depicting a minor were established. Based on these findings, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which provides for liability for the production, distribution, and display of pornographic products.
After the investigation concluded, the case materials were submitted to the court. On February 12, a guilty verdict was issued: the defendant was found guilty and sentenced to two years of imprisonment. The judicial process ensured all procedural rights of the accused were maintained.
The Office of the Children's Ombudsman emphasized that it will continue to monitor the consideration of cases related to crimes against children. The office stated it remains open to receiving appeals from public organizations and citizens on such matters.
This case follows a recent incident in the Bukhara region where a 13-year-old schoolgirl became a mother after being subjected to sexual violence. That fact was officially confirmed by Children's Ombudsman Surayyo Rakhmonova. Both cases highlight ongoing challenges in the child protection system within the country, raising concerns about the effectiveness of preventive measures and support mechanisms for vulnerable minors.
