The Tashkent city administration has reviewed initiatives from the public and architecture experts regarding the modernization of Amir Temur Square in the capital's center. The khokimiyat stated that proposals for creating ground-level pedestrian crossings and expanding pedestrian zones will be considered in developing plans for the city's further renewal, but current work on the site is purely cosmetic in nature.

The debate over the square's future unfolded after the announcement of large-scale work in the heart of Tashkent. Specialists suggested using this opportunity to radically improve pedestrian infrastructure, including reducing roadway space and forming new public areas. In an official response, city authorities confirmed their commitment to modern planning standards, noting that expert initiatives will serve as a basis for subsequent phases of the location's modernization.

However, the khokimiyat clarified: the work that has led to the square's closure until April 7 is timed to celebrate the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur. It includes partial renewal of pathway surfaces, repair of irrigation systems, and replacement of utility lines. Deep reconstruction incorporating the changes proposed by urbanists is a matter for the next phase, with its projects to be presented to the public separately.

It is recalled that during the current improvement work, exits from the metro directly into the square are blocked.
