In the Sergeli district of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, officers from the State Security Service, in collaboration with internal affairs agencies, have shut down a drug manufacturing laboratory. During the operation, potent substances and precursors with a total value exceeding 4.5 billion Uzbek soums were confiscated.

It was established that a resident of the Chinaz district in the Tashkent region rented an apartment in a multi-story building and organized the production of prohibited substances there. As a result of operational measures, law enforcement seized approximately 3.5 kilograms of the potent drug pregabalin, valued at over 4.5 billion soums, along with 20 liters of liquid and 25 kilograms of powdered precursors. Additionally, equipment used for manufacturing and packaging the drugs was impounded.

Another resident of Chinaz, who acted as a "chemist" in the operation, was also detained in connection with the case. According to investigative data, both individuals had previously been involved in distributing banned substances via Telegram as "dead drop" couriers before being drawn into the production process.

A criminal case has been initiated based on the incident, and the suspects have been placed in custody. An investigation is ongoing. Authorities reminded the public that citizens can report similar offenses by calling the short number 1520, with confidentiality guaranteed.

Previously, it was reported that in Uzbekistan, eight drug labs were closed over two months, with more than 370 kilograms of narcotics seized.
