In Tashkent’s Olmazor district, two young men have been sentenced for organizing street races that endangered citizens' lives and blatantly violated public order. According to the capital’s Legal and Public Safety Department (LPSD), on March 22 at 03:40, operational information was received about illegal racing involving Lacetti and Onix cars, which led to breaches of traffic rules and public peace.
During the investigation, based on camera footage and witness testimonies, it was determined that 27-year-old Ramiz Islomov was driving the Lacetti, while 21-year-old Azimjon Abdusattorov was behind the wheel of the Onix. On the same day, the vehicles were impounded in a penalty area, and the documents were forwarded to the court. Pursuant to the Olmazor District Court’s decision, each of the young men received an administrative penalty of 10 days in jail.
LPSD representatives urged citizens affected by these violations to file complaints with the internal affairs authorities. This incident marks another example of the increasing number of road traffic incidents in Tashkent recently. Previously, two young men who drove a Mercedes-Benz at 222 km/h and illegally installed a “flashing light” were sentenced to 15 days in jail in the city.
Additionally, in a separate recent case, a father who allowed his minor son to drive a car at 130 km/h within a residential area was sentenced to 5 days in jail. The man insulted a neighbor who protested the action, sparking a conflict, after which the court found him guilty of petty hooliganism, and the vehicle was placed in a penalty area. These cases highlight ongoing challenges with road safety and public order in the city.
