The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has launched a new Account-to-Account (A2A) money transfer format, enabling individuals to directly transfer funds from one bank account to another. This service is being implemented under the presidential decree of December 10, 2025, and aims to develop digital financial technologies and expand opportunities for users.
The A2A system facilitates direct transfers between accounts of customers from different banks. Unlike mass P2P (peer-to-peer) transfers that use bank card numbers, the new format involves conducting transactions directly through bank accounts. The technical infrastructure required for the service was created by the Central Bank's Main Informatization Center.
Using the service does not require opening a new bank card; it is a transfer method selected in existing banking applications by choosing the service type during fund transfers. According to the regulator, the service has been technically implemented in all banks as of today, while existing transfer methods, including P2P, remain in place, with A2A considered an additional option.
Commission fees for using the service are independently set by banks within their tariff policies, with amounts potentially varying by bank and service type. The Central Bank emphasized that under market economy conditions, the regulator does not interfere in the commission-setting process, and the Main Informatization Center also does not participate in tariff formation as it does not provide payment services.
Users are advised to familiarize themselves in advance with bank terms and commissions to choose the most convenient method for transferring funds. This development reflects progress in financial technology, but competition among banks and uncertainty over service pricing may pose challenges for consumers.
