In the Namangan region of Uzbekistan, a nearly two-decade-long legal dispute has reached a just conclusion. An entrepreneur from the "Umid" neighborhood in Davlatabad district has secured compensation for his shop, which was demolished by a decision of local authorities 17 years ago. This case highlights the active role of justice agencies in protecting property rights, facilitated by ongoing reforms in the judicial system.

The entrepreneur initially filed a complaint with the local justice department, citing non-payment of compensation after the shop's demolition. Justice authorities supported his claim and prepared a lawsuit for the Namangan Inter-District Court for Civil Cases. During the court proceedings, it was established that the authorities had failed to fulfill their obligations for timely payment.

The court ruled in favor of the entrepreneur, ordering compensation of 409 million Uzbek soums. This decision has been noted as a significant step in strengthening property rights protection and ensuring accountability of state bodies in Uzbekistan. Representatives from the Ministry of Justice emphasized their commitment to continue safeguarding citizens' legal interests in such cases.

This incident also sheds light on similar issues in other regions of the country. For instance, in the Zaamin district of Jizzakh region, compensation for a shop demolished 14 years ago was paid after intervention by justice agencies. These cases reflect the growing role of the judicial system in regulating property relations in Uzbekistan, while pointing to persistent challenges in the enforcement of citizens' rights.
