President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has announced a significant increase in funding for the 'My Garden' program, aimed at expanding green spaces across the country. He made the announcement during a tree-planting event in Tashkent as part of the nationwide 'Yashil Makon' (Green Space) project, calling for greater involvement of residents and deputies in creating parks and green areas.

Previously, up to 250 million soums were allocated per project, but this amount has now been raised to 400 million soums. This change is claimed to enable more accessible and effective green projects for citizens. Each new park or garden will be provided with a plot of up to one hectare near residential areas, with mandatory water supply.

Deputies will also play a key role in this effort: each member of the Legislative Chamber will receive 412 million soums to establish green territories in their constituencies. This measure is expected to support the development of green zones at a regional level.

The president stated that by 2030, the level of greening in the country is planned to increase by one-third, with green area per capita reaching 10 square meters. These plans are purportedly a step towards addressing climate change and ecological issues, yet concerns persist about the efficient use of funds and long-term sustainability of such initiatives.
