Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. The National Statistics Committee has presented current indicators on the number of state general education schools operating in the 2025/2026 academic year across all regions of Uzbekistan.
According to statistical data, the country has 11,118 general education schools active by the start of the 2025/2026 academic year. This represents an increase of 175 schools compared to the previous academic year.
The largest number of educational institutions are registered in Samarkand Region – 1,350 and Kashkadarya Region – 1,294. Fergana Region has 1,119 schools in operation, while Surkhandarya Region has 1,003.
Tashkent Region counts 935 schools, Andijan Region – 834, Namangan Region – 783, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan – 771. Jizzakh Region operates 598 schools, Khorezm Region – 600, Bukhara Region – 596, Navoiy Region – 387, and Syrdarya Region – 345.
503 schools are functioning in the capital city of Tashkent.
It is worth noting that in Uzbekistan, one-year preparatory education for children may become mandatory, and educational programs are expected to be revised to incorporate game-based learning models.
