March 2026 in Uzbekistan was marked by significant rainfall, with precipitation levels at or above the norm across most of the country. According to data from the Uzbekistan Hydrometeorological Service (Uzhydromet), rainfall was observed almost daily in the first decade of the month, followed by heavy rains on March 22–23 and 28–29, reaching 15–30 millimeters per day in some areas and 40–45 millimeters in mountainous regions.
While the majority of precipitation fell as rain, it transitioned to snow on March 10–11 in several regions, leading to the formation of a temporary snow cover 1–5 centimeters deep in the plains of Tashkent, Navoi, Samarkand, and Jizzakh provinces. In mountainous areas, the snow cover was substantially thicker, reaching 55–70 centimeters by mid-month and up to 200 centimeters in the highlands of Tashkent Province.
Due to warming in the third decade of March, snow persisted only at altitudes above 2,000 meters by the end of the month. Meteorologists note that, despite relatively cool weather this year, long-term observations confirm a sustained trend of rising March temperatures, reflecting ongoing climate change impacts in the region.
