According to the Transport Control Inspection, in January-March 2026, 32,450 passengers were identified for not paying fares on buses in Tashkent, with administrative protocols issued against them. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the same period last year, highlighting intensified enforcement efforts in the capital's public transport system.
Inspection staff, in collaboration with the state institution "Monitoring and Control of Passenger Transport in Tashkent City," have been conducting regular raids on buses. Enhanced controls have been implemented on 28 routes, leading to a rise in transaction numbers. The fare payment system and inspector activities have been digitized, facilitating more efficient management of compliance processes.
Data shows that 11,502 passengers were fined in January and 10,280 in February for traveling without tickets. Under Article 144 of the Administrative Responsibility Code, such violations incur a fine of 1/10 of the Base Calculation Amount (41,200 soums). The crackdown on fare evasion began on March 14, 2025, with thousands of cases recorded since then.
The Transport Control Inspection has called on passengers to adhere to established rules for using public transport and to pay fares promptly. Meanwhile, in 2025, revenue from bus transport in Tashkent increased by 16% to 644 billion soums, bus intervals were halved, and daily passenger flow nearly doubled to 1.4 million, indicating growing strain on the transport infrastructure.
