Mass cases of fare evasion on public transport have been recorded in Tashkent. According to the Transport Control Inspection, 32,400 fare evaders were identified on city buses in the first three months of 2026. Administrative protocols have been drawn up for each case.
The payment system and inspector controls have now been digitized. Monitoring allows for targeted reinforcement of control on problematic routes. Since the beginning of the year, inspections have been conducted on 28 routes, with eight routes checked recently. As a result, the number of fare payment transactions has increased significantly.
The Inspection reminds that using public transport requires compliance with established rules. Paying the fare is the duty of every passenger, and ignoring it leads to administrative liability—a fine of 41,200 soums under Article 144-5 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. In March of this year, it was reported that 26,564 individuals were held accountable for violating fare rules in Tashkent.
