An investigation conducted by the territorial administration of the Competition Committee in Namangan region has uncovered significant violations in several medical associations operating in the area. It was found that medical measuring and testing equipment in healthcare facilities in the districts of To‘raqo‘rg‘on, Uychi, Uchqo‘rg‘on, Chortoq, and Yangiqo‘rg‘on were used to provide services to patients without undergoing mandatory metrological verification within specified periods.
The investigation revealed that these institutions collected approximately 300 million soums in unjustified revenue from consumers for medical materials that were listed in price catalogs but were not actually utilized. This practice severely infringed upon patient rights and imposed an undue financial burden on them, highlighting systemic issues in billing transparency.
In response, a special commission of the territorial administration initiated a case citing violations of relevant articles of the law "On Protection of Consumer Rights" and the requirements set by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution governing service standards in this sector. Upon concluding the review, mandatory instructions were issued to the medical institutions to refund the unjustifiably collected funds to consumers, emphasizing regulatory enforcement.
This incident underscores broader challenges in oversight within the healthcare sector in Namangan region, pointing to deficiencies in patient protection mechanisms. The Competition Committee has called for enhanced measures to prevent such occurrences in the future, stressing the need for stricter compliance and accountability in medical service provision.
