Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov has signed a resolution "On the Implementation of Expenditures Related to the Repair of Some Roads in Tashkent City," allocating 14 billion sum for the renewal of the capital's road infrastructure.

The document states that these funds will be drawn from the City Development Fund and directed toward the prompt elimination of road surface defects, as well as the planned improvement of roadway conditions across all parts of the metropolis.

Financial distribution is organized on an address-based principle: each of the capital's 12 districts will receive 1 billion sum for the repair of internal and inter-block roads. An additional 2 billion sum is allocated to a specialized department responsible for the operation and maintenance of central highways and city-wide streets.

Previously, the Tashkent city administration explained and demonstrated how the controversial road barriers, which sparked public debates in early 2025, will be modified. Following a temporary freeze of the project and an engineering audit, the authorities presented an updated concept: instead of uniform fences, three types of structures designed with consideration for the capital's "architectural code" will now appear on city streets.

Over 6 billion sum has been allocated for these purposes. According to the city administration, the new barriers are intended not only to discipline pedestrians but also to transform the image from "obstacle fences" to "elements of national design."
