On April 17, Javokhir Sindarov, winner of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Candidates Tournament, returned by charter flight from Cyprus and was ceremoniously welcomed at the newly built Humo International Airport in Tashkent by high-ranking state officials, athletes, and the public. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Head of the Social Development Department of the Presidential Administration Odil Abdurakhmanov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Otabek Umarov, Minister of Sports Adham Ikramov, Tashkent City Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, as well as Sindarov's family members, chess players, and journalists.
In his speech, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov emphasized that Sindarov's victory was the result of hard work, highlighting the president's initiative in assigning sponsors to chess players and the crucial role of this support. He also noted the symbolic significance of celebrating such a victory at the new airport for the first time, reflecting Uzbekistan's achievements in the sports arena.
Javokhir Sindarov explained his success by pointing to the conditions created by the president and the intensive preparation process. He underscored Uzbekistan's emergence as a strong national team in world chess and expressed hope for future competitions, including a match against Gukesh. Grandmaster Muhiddin Madaminov emphasized the importance of a 20-day training camp before the tournament and team collaboration.
Sindarov's grandmother, Jamila Sindarova, shared that she watched her grandson's games with excitement, stressing the role of family support and state assistance. At the end of the ceremony, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov read out the presidential decree awarding Javokhir Sindarov the "Labor Glory" order, marking official recognition of his achievements.
