At the first stage of the World Boxing Cup organized by the World Boxing federation, held from April 18 to 27 in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, the Uzbekistan national team finished 6th in the medal standings.
Four boxers represented Uzbekistan, securing two gold medals and one bronze. Gold medals were won by Farzona Fazilova (up to 48 kg) and Navbakhor Khamidova (up to 65 kg). The bronze medal was claimed by Jakhongir Zokirov (up to 90 kg). Feruza Kazakova (up to 51 kg) did not win a medal.
In the team standings, Brazil took first place (5 gold, 4 silver), China came second (4-0-1), and Kazakhstan finished third (3-1-3).
The tournament featured over 400 boxers from 50 countries, a record number.
The second stage of the World Cup will take place from June 15 to 21 in Guiyang, China. The final stage is scheduled for November 25 to December 2 in Tashkent.
