On April 29-30, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan. He will be accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček, as well as representatives of Czech business circles.

Babiš was born in Bratislava to a diplomat father. In 1978, he graduated with honors from the University of Economics in Bratislava, specializing in international trade. In 1980, he joined the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and worked in the foreign trade system.

After the collapse of the socialist system, Babiš moved to the private sector and founded the Agrofert holding, one of the largest conglomerates in the Czech Republic, uniting over 250 companies in agriculture, food and chemical industries, forestry, and logistics. In 2011, he founded the ANO party (Action of Dissatisfied Citizens) and entered politics with anti-corruption slogans.

In 2017, ANO won the parliamentary elections, and Babiš became prime minister for the first time. After losing the 2021 elections, he resigned but returned to power in 2025, again leading the government. His political course is described as pragmatic populism.

Babiš supports Czech membership in the EU and NATO but criticizes some Brussels initiatives, particularly migration policy and the green energy transition. On Ukraine, he maintains a cautious stance, favoring diplomatic solutions.

According to Forbes, as of December 2025, Babiš's wealth is estimated at $4.3 billion. He speaks French, German, English, and Russian. In 2021, he published a book titled "Share Before It's Banned!".
