Uzbekistan has seen a sharp increase in foreign students. According to the National Committee on Statistics, 15,124 foreign citizens arrived in the country for educational purposes in January–March 2026.

This figure is 2.3 times higher than in the same period last year, representing an increase of 8,500 people. The largest number of students came from Turkmenistan — over 7,100. Significant numbers also arrived from India (2,800), Tajikistan (1,100), China (641), Kyrgyzstan (483), Pakistan (438), Egypt (353), South Korea (342), the Philippines (286), and the United States (191).

Other countries contributed a total of over 1,200 students. For context, by the end of 2025, nearly 40,000 foreigners had come to study in Uzbekistan.
