Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz. On the eve of Remembrance and Honors Day and the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory in World War II, the President of Uzbekistan addressed the nation with congratulations.

“I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, congratulate you, our entire multinational people, on the great holiday – Remembrance and Honors Day and the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory in World War II,” the head of state said.

The address included words of gratitude to war and home front veterans, as well as remembrance of military personnel and law enforcement officers who died during the years of independence.

The President recalled that during the war, nearly 2 million out of 6.8 million residents of the republic went to the front. More than half a million died, over 158,000 went missing, and more than 60,000 returned disabled.

“Many years have passed, but these terrible numbers still resonate with incurable pain in our hearts,” the leader of Uzbekistan emphasized.

During the war, 214,000 soldiers and officers from Uzbekistan were awarded combat orders and medals, 301 of them received the highest award – the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and 70 were awarded the Order of Glory of all three degrees.

At the same time, the republic became a reliable rear, providing the front with everything necessary and sheltering more than 1.5 million evacuees, including 250,000 children.

“We must never forget that national unity and cohesion are our priceless wealth, the solid foundation of all achievements and victories,” the President stressed.

The congratulation also noted that this year, war participants and disabled veterans were given cash rewards of 30 million soums, and sanatorium and health trips were organized. Across the country, memorial evenings, meetings of three generations, and cultural events are being held under the motto “Duty, Courage, Fortitude.”

In conclusion, the President wished citizens peace, well-being, and prosperity, emphasizing that the feat of ancestors remains a school of courage for new generations.

Recall that today Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed on a working visit to Moscow. The trip includes participation in events marking the Victory in World War II.
