The State Security Service reported that the deputy governor of Kogon District in Bukhara Region was arrested on suspicion of corruption, caught red-handed while accepting a bribe.

According to reports, a farmer cultivating land in the 'Qum Sulton' area of Bukhara District approached the deputy governor for help after water supply to his fields, which passes through Kogon District, was cut off.

The official allegedly demanded $15,000 from the farmer to restore water supply and ensure no future problems. He was arrested while receiving $12,000 of the requested amount as a bribe.

A criminal case has been opened against the deputy governor under Article 210 (Bribery), Part 2, clauses 'b' and 'c' of the Criminal Code.

The suspect has been placed in custody pending investigation. Investigative actions are ongoing.
