In the Almazar district of Tashkent, residents have illegally erected structures on the roof of an apartment building, replacing a terrace that was part of the original design. The violators now face fines and an order to dismantle the unauthorized constructions.
The illegal construction was discovered during a routine inspection by the territorial inspectorate for construction and housing and communal services. The inspection was prompted by a complaint from residents of the "Islom ota" mahalla in the Karakamysh 1/2 area.
Inspectors found that residents had built structures using both heavy and light materials on the designated open terrace area. Experts warn that such constructions pose a serious threat to the building's seismic stability and overall safety, as the additional load could compromise the structure.
Following the inspection, the property owners were issued a mandatory order to dismantle the illegal structures. Failure to comply within the specified timeframe will result in administrative liability.
Under current legislation, fines for such violations range from 50 times the base calculation value (20.6 million soums) for individuals to 100 times (41.2 million soums) for legal entities.
Previously, two residents of Samarkand built swimming pools on their roofs without approval from the construction inspectorate. Those structures were also deemed to violate urban planning norms and were ordered to be dismantled.
