In a thrilling Premier League encounter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool, Everton and Manchester United shared the spoils with a 2-2 draw, thanks to a sensational debut goal from substitute Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The 27-year-old, who came on late in the game, unleashed a first-time strike from 30 yards with virtually the last kick of the match, cancelling out Benjamin Sesko's 87th-minute header that had seemingly secured victory for the visitors.

The result leaves Manchester United with four points from their opening three league matches, placing them 11th in the standings, while Everton sit eighth with five points.

The match was not short of drama. Bryan Mbeumo had given United the lead early in the second half with a superb solo effort, cutting inside from the right and curling a left-footed shot into the far corner. Everton, however, grew into the game, and Tyrique George equalized with a ferocious strike in the 82nd minute.

Earlier, Bruno Fernandes had hit the crossbar for United, while Everton's Thierno Barry missed a glorious chance with a free header from Merlin Rohl's excellent cross.

Everton introduced Jack Grealish in the 66th minute, marking the start of his second loan spell on Merseyside. His presence immediately improved the home side's attacking cohesion, leading to increased pressure on the United defense.

James Tarkowski made a crucial last-ditch tackle to deny Matheus Cunha, but the visitors eventually found the net through Sesko, who headed in Luke Shaw's cross, setting the stage for Maitland-Niles' heroics.

The draw was a testament to Everton's fighting spirit, which they will need throughout the season given their thin squad and the criticism they faced over their transfer window activity.
