In the Fergana region, officers of the State Security Service, together with customs and law enforcement agencies, conducted a special operation that disrupted a major drug trafficking channel.

In the Uchkuprik district, a Cobalt car driven by a 24-year-old resident of Kokand was stopped. During a search of the vehicle, operatives discovered 4 kg 41 grams of hashish.

Further searches at the suspect's residence uncovered an additional 867 grams of the same narcotic. A pre-investigation check revealed that the seized hashish belonged to the driver's uncle, a man born in 1980. The banned substances had been brought into Uzbekistan from a neighboring republic. The drug-dealing relatives were detained.

Criminal cases have been opened against the detainees under Article 246 (smuggling) and Article 273 (illegal sale of narcotic drugs) of the Criminal Code. The suspects have been placed in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
