Uzbekistan has established separate administrative liability for replacing or altering a car's odometer readings (reducing mileage) without notifying the buyer.

Under the new Article 178-2 of the Code of Administrative Liability, this offense carries a fine of 10 to 15 times the base calculated value (from 4.12 million to 6.18 million soums). The measure aims to prevent fraud in the secondary car market.

“This norm serves to limit fraudulent actions in the car market, eliminate abuses in car sales, and guarantee consumers' right to receive reliable information,” said Abdulkhakim Eshmurodov, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption.
