Uzbekistan recorded 82 emergencies of natural, man-made, and environmental nature last year, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. These incidents resulted in 221 deaths and 256 injuries.

The statistics and civil protection issues were discussed by senators at the 15th plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. During the analysis, senators pointed to unresolved problems in emergency prevention, including incomplete implementation of early warning and forecasting systems, insufficient coordination between responsible agencies, and a shortage of qualified personnel.

Special attention was paid to the rise in incidents involving gas-air mixture explosions. In 2025, 71 such cases were recorded, killing 37 people and increasing the total number of victims by 68% compared to the previous period. Additionally, the total number of fires in the country increased by 12.7%.

Following the discussion, the Senate emphasized the need to strengthen preventive measures, improve the effectiveness of early response systems, and take steps to mitigate the consequences of emergencies.
